Made with Love. Made to Last.
At Wolf Workshop, we are committed to using environmentally friendly materials to the best of our ability in every piece we create. All of our timber is furniture-grade, kiln-dried, and sourced from sustainably managed forests—certified by either the FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) or PEFC (Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification).
Timber
At Wolf Workshop, we work with a carefully curated selection of hardwoods, each offering its own distinct character, grain pattern, and colour palette. Below is a guide to some of the timbers we regularly use:
European Oak
European Oak features a distinctive wavy grain, with warm golden-brown tones and prominent knots and swirls. It often includes beautiful natural features such as burrs and medullary rays, adding depth and individuality to each piece.
American Oak (White Oak)
American Oak, also known as White Oak, has a lighter appearance, with soft tan tones and subtle pink or yellow hues. It typically displays a straighter, more uniform grain and often showcases striking medullary rays.
American Walnut
Renowned for its rich, dark heartwood—ranging from chocolate brown to purplish hues—American Walnut offers a strong visual contrast with its creamy sapwood. The grain is typically fine and straight, making it a favourite for refined, elegant pieces.
European Ash
European Ash presents a bold, straight grain with a coarse, even texture. Its sapwood is light, almost white, while the heartwood varies from pale greyish brown to light brown, offering a clean and contemporary look.
American Elm
American Elm features a light to medium brown heartwood with a distinctive, interlocked grain pattern. It may also reveal unique shimmer effects with subtle green and purple flecks, lending a dynamic, organic character to the timber.
English Elm
English Elm is celebrated for its beautiful, interlocked grain, making it an excellent choice for statement furniture. The heartwood ranges from light to medium brown, with paler sapwood providing gentle contrast.
Cherry
Cherry wood ranges from soft pink tones to deep reddish brown, which darkens gracefully over time with exposure to light. It has a smooth, fine, and straight grain, often accented with natural features like brown pith flecks and small gum pockets. The sapwood is typically creamy white, enhancing the timber’s warm and elegant appearance.
Finishes
At Wolf Workshop, we offer a range of high-quality finishes, all of which are 100% organic, derived from natural ingredients, or meet the highest environmental standards. Each finish is selected to complement the natural beauty of the wood while providing protection and longevity.
Natural Tung Oil
Extracted from the nuts of the Tung tree, this all-natural oil penetrates deeply into the wood, enhancing its colour and character with a rich, almost damp appearance. It offers a water-resistant, food-safe finish that allows the wood to age gracefully, developing a beautiful natural patina over time. Please note: as a nut-based product, it may cause allergic reactions in sensitive individuals.
Danish Oil
A traditional blend of natural oils and resins, Danish oil provides a durable, water-resistant, and food-safe finish. It leaves the surface with a warm satin sheen that enhances the timber's natural grain and beauty.
Osmo Wax Oil Blend
Ideal for high-traffic areas, Osmo is a premium finish made from natural oils and waxes. It’s available in gloss, satin, matt, and coloured tints. Once cured, it delivers a tough, water-repellent, scuff-resistant, and food-safe surface while preserving the wood’s texture and warmth.
Beeswax
A classic, natural finish that nourishes and protects the wood, leaving it with a soft, warm sheen. Beeswax enhances the timber's grain and colour while providing a gentle water resistance. It is food safe and perfect for pieces where a soft, traditional look is desired.
Warranty
All furniture manufactured by Wolf Workshop comes with a 2-year structural warranty, covering workmanship and material integrity under normal use.
We take great pride in our craft, selecting only the highest quality furniture-grade timber and combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology. Each piece is built with longevity in mind—designed to last a lifetime with proper care.
Please note that wood is a natural material and will respond to environmental conditions over time. Variations such as cupping, splitting, shrinkage, expansion, and discolouration can occur due to changes in temperature, humidity, and exposure to light. These are natural characteristics of timber and, as such, are not covered under warranty.
To ensure the longevity and beauty of your furniture, proper handling and care are essential. We are always happy to offer guidance on how best to care for your piece.
